So! Should have realized this before but as Germaryah is a werewolf, he has a much higher perception of various smells and processes them differently from the average person!

So, just so I can have it for background in possible tags:

1. What is your general baseline for what your character smell like? Do they wear scents, heavily flavored foods, spices, etc?

2. Does your character have any sort of magic that'd come off them faintly, med, or strongly at times? Germaryah really knows it's magic if it's pointed out to him- mostly it's kind of a tingly nose scent for him he he can dismiss as a sneeze or pepper or something!

3. If you want any special notes or questions or not have this background smell, please let me know! I came up with this after realizing this may be some background info Germaryah may be getting at times.

Thanks!

Hanna smells like old spice probably, though his shampoo is specifically for curly hair(thanks Erskine).

He no longer smells like rot(thanks Sokie) but his magic paints his blood and has been described as bad taste for vampires and probably a sour or off smell if you get it in your nose too long.

1. Zerxus probably smells like ash and smoke most of all, followed by notes of blood and steel. Underneath all that, though: fresh herbs and warm spices, sawdust and leather.

2. Absolutely. It's probably strongest when he's actively casting something, but he's a fully magical creature. (Tempus also registers as ridiculously magical. ...And might smell like space.)

1. The Eleven smells Gallifreyan, which according to obscure canon smells rather like honey. (Basically, although he looks human, he smells very Not Human. Totally different chemistry going on.) Aside from that, his habits are pretty plain, his scent pretty subdued. He doesn't wear any cologne, or scented aftershave, or anything like that. Just basic soap.

2. This is in the category of "maybe????" There are some things about Gallifreyans that are kind of...space magic. (Like artron energy and other Doctor Who nonsense.) So possibly tingly but in a somewhat different way than magic tingly.

1. Arthur usually smells like cologne, albeit very lightly because of his own sensitive nose. Common scents are earthy or woody, like sandalwood and vanilla, or warm musk from his pomade. Otherwise he'll also smell very commonly like John and Sheehan, or otherwise generally like fresh laundry.

2. In a magical sense, Arthur is indistinguishable from John, given his "powers" have a singular source, and he's literally soulbound to his god-entity. He doesn't typically use much of it, so the majority of the smell is simply John rubbing off on him, but if he does use any magic I'll be sure to note it in a thread with how abruptly he'll smell like John!

3. Arthur is very meticulous about his appearance, scent included, so it's vanishingly rare he'll ever smell bad.

1. Mostly he smells like laundry powder and B.O.. He'll stay in the same outfit until the smell bothers him, dump it in the laundry, have the world's briefest shower and then get back in new, relatively identical clothes. These days he'll also smell like the Ghoul, and is scent-marked by Dogmeat, and also probably Ger!

2. Nothing magical, though when he's spent too long in his cabin he might smell faintly like old blood and plasma. Human, but not his. (His arm is healing nicely, so there's no scent of infection.) His cabin smells strongly of them, but it's a slow build-up over time as it seems to leak from the walls.

3. Simon is probably one of the scents Ger would be more familiar with, so feel free to use this to track him if it ever comes up!

It'd be the same answers for all three!

1. Store brand deodorant, staticky wool sweater. Nothing crazy, not wearing anything on purpose. If Steven's been in the body lately, he has also been petting every animal that stands still long enough.

2. The whole body is sort of like a D&D paladin and has been claimed by a moon god, I have no idea if that's detectable. Your choice.

3. Marc has been caught by werewolves before that notice he smells just like Steven. Gimme a heads up if this is going to happen so I can manage the reveal stuff!

Gojyo absolutely REEKS of cigarette smoke. I'll be impressed if Germaryah can pick anything up under that. But if he can: Gojyo's half-human, half-youkai, so probably smells a little different than a normal human? He uses cheap, Manly-scented soap and deodorant and sometimes smells of alcohol.

Nothing magical about him.

1. Overall Hythlodaeus just smells... clean? Like if he's showered he'll smell like the shampoo he used, which is usually something vaguely floral. Otherwise it's a very Normal Person Smell.

2. Until you get to this part. Hythlodaeus' magical ability is very strong and would probably be impossible for Germaryah to miss even without it being pointed out. He's not secretive about it so he'll talk about it if he's asked.

1. General baseline for someone with such a keen sense of smell would be that Verso smells faintly of ink/oil paint and canvas paper, even under normal smells like shampoo and anything else he might temporarily smell like.

2. This is a [handtilt] because Verso is completely nerfed power-wise at the moment. There could be a very faint sense of something residual if Germaryah really concentrates.

1. Ash doesn't really have much of a scent - maybe something faint from shampoos or soaps, cinnamon or mint or pine or very faintly floral, but he distinctly doesn't have A Scent the way living humans do aside from a faint undercurrent of blood alongside what vampires usually smell like to Ger. If his blood is currently acid, that undercurrent turns acrid and sharp.

2. Their native powers are mostly... kind of blood magic? They're not magic enough that specifically antimagic wards would turn them off, they are magic enough Antryg reads then as such.
They also have a few cantrips they learned from John, which would probably read differently.

3. There are days she smells way more like blood (after a liason with Armand) despite not having any visible blood or injuries. Those two get pretty rabid with each other!

1. Poppy smells Nice. Usually like flowers, usually like whatever flowers she's wearing / has in her hair that day (but not always).

2. She generally keeps herself restrained enough to not blind anyone who can see magic, but even then at a low level it's always sort of there, given she's an embodiment of paradox. If he's ever in any parts of her cabin beyond the very first room the poor boy's going to sneeze his head off.

3. Part of how others perceive her is drawn from their unconscious mind's assumptions - it's not really a conscious thing she does either, it's a side effect of being what she is. So somewhere in her scent might be a faint trace of a smell Ger finds comforting / associates with positive memories! Nothing he'd consciously go 'she smells like [X]', just there in the background.

1. Lahabrea does not typical favor any sort of strong scent, though he does most commonly use fire magic, some of which likely lingers around him from time to time. Speaking of which...

2. Lahabrea is a very powerful mage - magically speaking he is almost certainly one of the Barge's heavier hitters - and has enough power to just kind of... casually create things out of magic. He is almost certainly going to smell like some amount of magic as a baseline, even when he isn't really trying to,
