Other Characters Currently In-Game: Aerith Gainsborough, Sokie Undertown, Father Oscar
Character Name: Germaryah Washington
Age: 17. This is a very old Seventeen, where he is still at the point he can turn his life around, as he is on the cusp of adulthood, and has had to take a lot of things on himself. He's had to deal with violence, pulling his weight, and dealing with issues, some self-inflicted, some due to his unstable upbringing. He's still a teenager in his attitude and overall brattiness, but he does have the maturity to deal with murder, torture, or other forms of violence. Some of it he may inflict himself on a bad day.
From When?: Just after his altercation with Maksim when he attempts to steal from him and goes into allergic shock from having silver break his skin; this would have killed him if they hadn't made it to the hospital in time.
Inmate Justification: Germayah at this point has hit rock bottom. He has lost all sense of control, has been denying himself help, or love. To him, everyone simply uses each other for one reason or another, and will hurt each other for any sake of justification. If he is seen as vulnerable, weak, he will be consumed and used for one thing or another. Underneath all of the snapping and snarling, there is someone who has very much given into despair and expects to die an early death. Frankly, he thinks it's a miracle that he's not in juvvie, for his running around and getting paid for gang work in order to get pain relief.
But he's not beyond help, not yet. Despite all of the nastiness he's gone through, he's still capable of being kind, being good. He can become a person who believes in himself and feels more settled in his skin- and moreover, that he can find his name and identity for himself. He just needs some help getting there.
Arrival: Very much brought in against their will. Boy's got self worth issues.
Abilities/Powers:
Enhanced strength: This one is pretty self-explanatory, but! Currently, because Germaryah has been suppressing the transformations (and is also a teenager, so certain hormones make him even stupidly stronger), he has some impressive strength as a base level where he can shatter wood and with some effort, can also bend steel with his fist. It makes him handle everything incredibly gently, as he has shattered bones by accident.
Speed: He is somewhat faster as a human, more faster in the reflex department then out and out speed. But overall, it's more of a “He can grab the cookie faster” not “He can outrun superman” kind of speed. He could be faster once he's gotten the proper amount of nutrients in human shape.
As a wolf, he is a wolf’s baseline speed, nothing too outstanding currently.
Regeneration: As of right now, his regeneration is at its peak. Once he gets a little older, his healing factor will flux with the moon phases and get downright weird at eclipses and blood moons, etc. Currently though, his healing is consistent, and he can heal quickly, and has regenerated lost fingers and teeth. He can even regenerate limbs. He would, however, pass out from the blood loss as well as his body shutting down for sheer survival. He's tougher than average, but only compared to humans. And if you cut off his head, or keep attacking him, or shoot him in the heart, he'll die.
Transformation:
Currently, Germaryah is on the cusp of his first physical transformation between a wolf and a human. Due to his age, the wolf shape is not that of a full adult wolf; it is instead that of a yearling wolf, and as he is still learning the shape, will be clumsy with it.
He can communicate due to the magic, as his thoughts are communicated verbally outwards, sort of like he's on the phone. He will still be able to puff, howl, yip and whine as a wolf and will likely do so when he is particularly upset.
Note: partial transformation IS possible for him, but he would need to be taught how to do so. Otherwise his default is only human and wolf.
Enhanced senses: He doesn't have particularly enhanced sight, but his hearing, and his sense of taste and smell are enhanced. He hasn't realized that he can differentiate people via scent, tell when blood has been spilled, or similar wolf traits as human or wolf. He also has a different sense of taste as he can taste water content with the tip of his tongue, and tastes meat and savory things, as well as sweet, stronger then humans.
Resistance to disease: As a werewolf, he has resistance to most colds, flus, and everyday illnesses. He can also eat (and enjoys) raw meat without ill effect. He could also eat carrion physically, but mentally he likely couldn't stomach the idea.
Note: Germaryah's werewolf-ism is inherited, so he is noninfectious by use of bodily fluids.
Cons:
Allergy to silver: Silver is deadly for Germaryah. He nearly died from silver barely entering broken skin. He can't touch silver without blisters popping up on.
High metabolism: Germaryah needs a lot of food, even for a teenager. It's partially because his regeneration, but it is also due to the fact he's been growing rapidly and shapeshifting- or suppressing it, as he has for the past few years- takes a toll on his body. If he doesn't eat within 24 hours, he's likely to drop from exhaustion.
Transformation suppressed rage/pain: Due to suppressing transformation, and not later adhering to his body's needs, he needs to transform, stay in a wolf shape for a few hours, and transform back. He can stay in the wolf shape without loss of sanity or humanity, but he isn't currently comfortable with the idea of being an animal for long periods yet.
Otherwise he gets angry, wild mood swings, and his nerves feel like he's on fire.
Abilities: He does know how to bake in the American South style, is a brawler, and that's about it. Poor kid does not have much skills just yet, but he likes things with his hands.
He does have an understanding and appreciation for magic with the school system but hasn't trained for it.
Restrictions: taking away his strength would be a blessing, as well as being faster than average. I would like to keep his shapeshifting, but make it so he can't harm people- possibly by making it so he suddenly becomes fatigued when he tries to bite someone, or clumsiness or something similar.
Inmate Information: What warden will need to know on file: Germaryah was abandoned at the hospital, which is a truth that he's known from a variety of group homes, foster homes, and other assorted living situations he used to live in his life up until Maksim took him a few months prior. What he doesn't know is that he is a product of an affair between both parents, who were married to different people. It would not have been an incident in the political level, unless being a diplomat's bastard child counts. The problem was their neglect; they thought that his mix, and one parent being an outlier of a shapeshifter (she had a mental shift, not a physical one) and the other a pure shapeshifter, that he would be recessive, and not someone who would inherit their abilities, much less with greater potency then either parent.
There is supposed to be a system for shapeshifter children whose parents can't take care of them, a shadow foster system where children can at least learn the changes, how to adjust, and how to prepare themselves physically and mentally and for any health issues that arise. They are educated, if not always taken care of as much as they should. But there was no blood test to see (which existed) or attempts to contact the local system where Ger could have been given to someone who at least ensured he would not have gone down the path he did, scared, alone and in pain.
There is an entire system, which is currently underground, known as the Clan system, which takes care of shapeshifters on a global and local level which people are at least nominally associated with. There could be the excuse that neither party was American, so they could not have the contacts. But, while they went through the pregnancy, they just wanted to leave him and forget he existed, as proof of their affair. And they didn't see about termination simply because they wavered in whether or not they should pass him off as his mother's husband's child.
In short, his parents completely dropped the ball on him, but there are people like him, who could give him support and understanding, even if they are currently not public.
There is also the fact that his current foster father took Ger in not because he thought he could have a thug for free, but because Maksim has a connection to Ger's biological mother- they were long time childhood friends. He has no plans on speaking about his mother- that would only cause Ger pain- but Maksim does love him, even if Ger is currently being a touchy pain in the ass. The love is the most important part, out of anything he may not know about himself or his situation. And some things may be better to keep to themselves, as it could cause backtracking in his development.
Path to Redemption: This is going to be a long, difficult struggle for him to get to graduation. To start, he's going to have to unlearn a lot of behavior that he's used to defend himself from further hurt. Part of that is pure teenage snootiness, but most of it is from not feeling wanted, or used for one thing or another. He did attempt to blow up his current relationship with his latest foster father in an attempt to keep himself safe (and feed his addiction) by stealing from him. So there is the side that needs to understand that people do care for him, and they will do things for him because they want to. That it is not all a trick, and not everyone is terrible by default.
That will be the biggest, though not the only hurtle he will face. There are some other things that he will need to face in himself, and to continue his journey to adulthood.
The most obvious will be his addiction issues, as they are the most dangerous. This means getting sober, and moreover, using other ways to cope with his personal pain that does not mean using drugs, alcohol, or other ways to deal with his rage and pain- and he has a lot of it. Getting him clean will be one part, and making sure he expresses his anger productively, without hurting himself and others is another.
And third- this is tied with Germaryah's other issues- is accepting that he is a werewolf, and what that entails. At the point he's coming in, he has not (unless the TDM thread with Hanna becomes game canon) has not transformed yet, but has been having to deal with the issues that comes from having the denial- physical pain, rage, and inability to focus. This is where his out of control hunger streams from, the urges, and physical nervousness originate from as his body is meant to change form on a regular basis for regulation purposes. This is the same for many of his particular sub-race. But facing this, that he is a shapeshifter and not human is going to be very difficult to handle. It's not that he's special- this means that this is, and will forever be his new normal, with the risks and benefits that come from being a werewolf, especially of his subtype.
To sum up: Addiction, self acceptance, self belonging and trust. This may take awhile.
World Information:.
The world can be summed up as a variant of urban fantasy but with some twists. While there are some leanings towards with bits of Mage: the Ascension, Beyond the Hedge, and Vampire: the Masquerade, these are fairly minimal when it comes to the Original World design. What will effect this most is the magic system, in that there are people who can become ArchMages, like Sokie, but they are far and in-between in rarity. For daily life, and what Germaryah is most familiar with, is there magic integrated into daily life, both from people who are born with it, those who learn it (known as Academic magic, which is basically alchemy that is based on chemistry formulas) and faith magic which is magic that is specifically powered by religious faith). Magic is a pretty normal occurrence, and has grown with technology, and has been used in daily lives. So, anyone using it or using it as an excuse, Germaryah won't even blink.
What is more important for world information, and in dealing with Germaryah (even if he isn't aware of it) is that there are a lot of various shapeshifters that live globally amongst normal people. There are many flavors of werewolves, were dolphins, werehawks, wereturtles, as well as more mystical types, such as were dragons and were kirin. Generally, they can be referred to as shapeshifters as an acceptable compromise. Most are born into shapeshifting, as turning people into shapeshifters via magecraft has an incredibly rare low success rate and people are rarely cursed by the divine into shapeshifters these days. The shapeshifter community works on a local and global level, and while there can be name for individual groups, they refer to themselves as the Clans.
In these Clans, they follow the bloodlines, offer support for various shapeshifters in need- such as children needing to learn what they are, as well as help for those who are in need of medical care as well as social support. They have their own community and celebrations, with get togethers on a regular basis to change shape together, safely. Some shapeshifters need to change shape on a weekly to biweekly basis so their bodies and minds can stay intact and healthy; some less so. Most children are prepared for the changes that are to come, and so can change shape safely with their family and support, and so can go for a longer period without shapeshifting, and learn how to deal with transformations, how to know the warning signs of difficulties with changing, and when they need to get medical help from their community if something were to go wrong.
This is an underground community though, as there are certain kinds of werecreatures, specifically certain kinds of werewolves, that are cursed and infectious and have led to bad press in the past, and prefer to be seen as myths.
History:
CW: childhood abuse, trauma, mentions of bullying and violence, underage drug use
Germaryah was born as a product of an affair between his parents. His father was a Turkish man from a werefox clan and worked in high profile business, notably in investments. His mother was a diplomat and werewolf whose bloodline was claimed to be of a sub clan, the Allta, also known as the Wolves of Ossory. However, her bloodline was considered diluted; her family claim went back to the Crusades era, and her more recent family ties (from the past three living generations) originated from the Middle East and France. Though there had been known breeding to other werewolves after her ancestor's journey from Ireland to the Holy Land, his mother could not change her form at all, and instead went through a mental change during every full moon. In the false belief that no shapeshifting quirk would be passed on to their son, they gave Germaryah up for adoption in the United States (where their five year affair mostly took place). They had first thought that they would go with the lie that the diplomat had been a surrogate, or had found the baby to adopt, as she was married to another woman at the time. But after some debate, the affair couple decided that they would give Germaryah up, as both would be due to leave the States back to their own countries. Both were content with the status quo, and did not wish to disturb it. There was a possibility that they might have come up with a better story, or at least made some contact with the local Clan community, with other shapeshifters to adopt the baby if they believed he would be a shapeshifter too. It was not because it was in the best interest of the child; if they were discovered by the Clan community, they would have been socially shamed, with business interests withdrawing from both parties. Instead, they left him at the hospital with a formal abandonment to leave no traces back to them, thinking he would have a better life and be taken in by a wealthy family.
Instead, Germaryah grew up with a strange name given by the state, and in a series of foster homes. He did have one that he grew up with as a toddler, with the thoughts of adoption, with the caretaker name of Mami, as he knew her. Unfortunately, Mami, who also taught him about baking, sadly got quite sick, and so was removed from her care. From then on, he was taken from various group homes, foster homes, some of them temporary stays, some of them looking to adopt him. Some were kind; some were not. He tended to be bounced around to state to state, when one home did not work out for one reason or another. And while he went from home to home, he suffered from bullying, fighting, anger and depression. He kept moving from school to school, and was expected to do much in the way to prove he was worth the money the government spent on his existence. It was a difficult childhood, and not surprising that he did not think much of academics. There were some teachers that tried to connect, as he was, while not one that stood out, was a quiet child, earnest with trying to please, appreciated his efforts to at least try.
Around the time he was twelve, Germaryah started to notice changes. He had odd dreams of forests he’s never seen. His skin itched a lot. He would get muscle cramps at the oddest times, or feel tension if he stayed inside cramped spaces for too long. His appetite increased fivefold, and as puberty hit, the more out of his skin he felt. He already felt out of sorts from having a strange name that didn’t feel like it suited, or clothes that no longer fit because of his rapid growth.
More than ever, he wanted to feel normal, like everyone else. His grades worsened, and he felt less supported by the people around him.
With his resistance to being a werewolf- and wanting to be human- Germaryah started to experience violent mood swings. He also started to experience nerve pain throughout his body. The rage scared him, and Germaryah tried to reach out for help. And here, Germaryah was failed again.
He was told by doctors (when he could convince someone to take him) that he was merely growing up; by foster parents and group leaders that his mood swings and rages were his problem, and that he needed to have better control of himself.
In a desperate move, Germaryah started taking street drugs. Some of them worked, some of them did not. Some of them had serious side effects, and did nothing for his temper. But he was hooked. He took anything he could get his hands on to keep the pain away. Soon he was taking work from gangs, not returning whatever residence was assigned to him for days at a time. While this occurred, Germaryah witnessed and took part in acts of extreme violence. His unnatural strength made it easy for him to be used as an enforcer, a robber, anything people wanted. And he went along with it. Anything to take the pain away. Anything to numb the rage, and he would do it.
Unknown to him, Germaryah notoriety and actions had caught the attention of someone had been a family friend of his mother- moreover someone who knew of the secret world of the shapeshifter clans. Maksim had immigrated to the states some years ago, for his own business reasons, and was a permanent residents of the states. When he saw Germaryah’s photo in the local social media, he knew that this was his friend’s child- he looked like a male version of her. But seeing Germaryah was spiraling, actions needed to be taken. Through some careful arrangements, Maksim Ainsile arranged for Germaryah to be fostered in his home, wanting to hopefully adopt and mentor his friend's son.
Though untrusting, Germaryah went along with the arrangement. Maksim was known to be something of mafia material on the streets, though he had a good local political, and business standing. Not to mention, the soft spoken man was considered a philanthropist, and so was thought nothing of him taking a local troubled teen under his wing- though not why such a troubled one. Germaryah not only had doubts about this fosterage, thinking this was a new plot, he had some hopes with this new housing situation too. He hoped there would be drugs that would come by for free, making it easier to steal, use, and sell for himself and his habits within the house.
When confronted though, things did not turn out as the young werewolf hoped. Maksim calmly informed his foster son that this was a drug free house and that he'd be assisting the boy in coming clean with both the drug and gang life. Germaryah, angry and having withdrawals, turned on Maksim, intending to shake the man down until he got what he wanted. It had always worked before.
The confrontation wasn't like Germaryah had pictured. He was throughly outclassed when it came to Maksim's fighting skills, and at one point, he ended up falling on top of Maksim's collection of silver coins. When the silver was pressed into Chika's broken skin (that’s to the glass), he experienced a severe reaction. He felt as if his skin was boiling off of him, and he passed out, his throat closing from the silver exposure.
This is where he is taken from- from his near death experience.
Sample Network Entry: Soooo, this is gonna be a weird question. But I feel like I kinda need to ask, because everything here is super weird to me, and that ain’t gonna stop any time soon.
Like, not forever but until I get used to it. I guess.
But- what is normal for you? I don’t mean just the bad stuff, I’m not asking to be a bore and a depression reminder. You don’t need the network for that. Like, here’s something that I miss: I miss being able to go to a cafe and order my own drink, and get a shot of something that’d make my day better.
So. What’s a normal thing you miss? Or wish you could have? Just curious.
Sample RP: TDM sample here!
Special Notes: Germaryah is his current name, but he will be going by a chosen name eventually once he figures out what fits him better!

Special Notes: Germaryah is his current name, but he will be going by a chosen name eventually once he figures out what fits him better!
